General information about user groups

With a group, you can centrally manage multiple users - assign permissions to a group rather than to each user individually. For example, this is how you can group users together to manage a specific project or billing. Each user in the group will inherit the group's permissions.

Users of different types can be added to a group. One user can be added to multiple groups. If a user had other permissions (individual or other group) before being added to a group, they are added to the group permissions.

If you are using federations and want to use user groups that are on the credential provider side, you can configure group mapping - integrate those groups into Servercore user groups.
