Restore a network volume from a backup

When restoring from network volume backups in single-zone pools, a new volume is created with the same type and size as the original one. In a multizone pool, when restoring from a backup, you can create a volume of a different type and in a different pool segment.

Backup restoration time depends on the backup size. For example, a 100 GB backup will take 11 minutes to restore. During the restoration, the network volume for which the backup was created will be in the RESTORING-BACKUP status.

It is not possible to restore from a backup to the original volume or to a new cloud server. You can attach the restored volume to a cloud server or create a new server from it.

Single-zone pool

1. In the control panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.

2. Go to the Backups section.

3. In the menu of the backup, select Restore volume from backup.

4. Select the volume type.

5. Select a recovery point—this is the point in time when the backup was created.

6. Enter a name for the new volume.

7. Click Create volume.

Multi-zone pool

1. In the control panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.

2. Go to the Backups section.

3. In the menu of the backup, select Restore volume from backup.

4. Select the location where the volume will be restored from the backup.

5. Select the volume type.

6. Select a recovery point—this is the point in time when the backup was created.

7. Enter a name for the new volume.

8. Click Create volume.
