Restore a network volume from a backup

When restoring from network volume backups in single-zone pools, a new volume is created with the same type and size as the original. In a multi-zone pool, when restoring from a backup, you can create a volume of a different type and in a different pool segment.

Backup recovery time depends on the backup size. For example, a 100 GB backup will be restored in 11 minutes. During the recovery process, the network volume for which the backup was created will be in the RESTORING-BACKUP status.

Restoring from a backup to the original volume or to a new cloud server is not possible. You can attach the restored volume to a cloud server or create a new server from it.

  1. In the Control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.

  2. Go to the Backups section.

  3. In the backup menu, select Restore volume from backup.

  4. Select the volume type.

  5. Select a recovery point—this is the point in time when the backup was created.

  6. Enter a name for the new volume.

  7. Click Create volume.
