Change the order of HTTP policies in a rule

The order of applying HTTP policies depends on the policy action. Traffic rejection policies (REJECT) are applied first, followed by redirect to URL (REDIRECT_TO_URL) and URL prefix (REDIRECT_PREFIX) policies, followed by redirect to pool (REDIRECT_TO_POOL) policies.

If a rule contains multiple HTTP policies with the same action, they are applied according to the policy position in the load balancer rule. You can change the policy position.

Control panel

1. In the control panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.

2. Go to Load Balancers → Load Balancers tab.

3. Open the load balancer page.

4. Open the rule card.

5. In the HTTP Policies block, drag and drop the policies. The policy that is higher than other policies with the same action will be applied first.

6. Click Confirm.

OpenStack CLI

1. Open the OpenStack CLI.

2. Change the position of an HTTP policy in a rule:

   openstack loadbalancer l7policy set --position <position> <policy>

   Specify:

   • <position> — policy position in the rule. For example, a policy with position 1 will be applied first among policies with the same action;
   • <policy> — ID or name of the HTTP policy. You can view the list using the command openstack loadbalancer l7policy list.
