Restart a cloud server
There are two ways to restart a cloud server:
- program restart without power-off;
- hardware restart with power-off.
Perform a program restart
The server will reboot without powering off. A graceful shutdown will be performed — the operating system will shut down correctly and reboot.
If the server does not respond within the set time, a hardware restart will be performed automatically—in this case, unsaved data may be lost.

OpenStack CLI
-
In the Control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.
-
In the server menu, select Program restart.
Perform a hardware restart
We recommend performing a hard reboot only if the server is not responding. In other cases, turn the server off and on.
During a hard reboot, the server shuts down and immediately turns on — in this case, unsaved data may be lost. The configuration is not recreated in the process.
