Add a cloud server to a placement group

You can add a cloud server to a placement group only when creating a cloud server.

An existing server cannot be added directly to a placement group, but you can add it to a group when creating a copy of the server.

Add an existing cloud server to a group

An existing cloud server cannot be added to a group. Create a copy of the cloud server and add the server to a placement group during creation.

1. If the cloud server has a local boot disk, create an image from the disk.

2. If the cloud server has a network boot volume, choose one of the options:

   • create an image from the disk;
   • create a snapshot of the disk;
   • or detach the boot volume from the cloud server.

3. Follow the Create a cloud server instructions. Select the created image, snapshot, or the disk that was detached from the server as the source.
