Change private network port domain name

If a private network is added to a DNS zone, you can change the domain name of a cloud server or Managed Kubernetes cluster port. In this case, the corresponding A or AAAA record in the DNS zone will be updated automatically.

Control panel

1. In the Control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.

2. Go to the Network section → Private networks tab.

3. Open the network page.

4. Ensure that the network is added to the DNS zone by checking whether there is a DNS Zone field with the zone name under the network name. Depending on whether this field exists:

   • if the field is missing, add the network to a DNS zone and return to step 1.

   • if the field exists, proceed to step 5.

5. On the Ports tab in the cloud server port card or Managed Kubernetes cluster, click next to the domain name.

6. Enter a new domain name.

7. Click Save.

OpenStack CLI

1. Ensure that the network is added to a DNS zone:

   1.1. In the Control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.

   1.2. Go to the Network section → Private networks tab.

   1.3. Open the network page.

   1.4.Make sure the network is added to the DNS zone; to do this, check if there is a DNS zone field with the zone name under the network name. Depending on whether the field exists:

   • if there is no field, add the network to the DNS zone and return to step 1.

   • if the field exists, proceed to step 2.

2. Open OpenStack CLI.

3. View the list of ports in the subnet and copy the ID or name of the required port:

   openstack port list --subnet <subnet>

   Specify <subnet> — the subnet ID or name; you can view it using the openstack subnet list.

4. Change the port domain name:

   openstack port set --dns-name <subdomain> <port>

   Specify:

   • <subdomain> — a new port domain name, maximum 63 characters — digits, Latin letters, and hyphens;
   • <port> — the port ID or name you copied in step 2.
