Edit DNS record

If a network is connected to a DNS zone, A or AAAA port records in the network are updated automatically when an IP address or port domain name changes. They can also be changed manually. CNAME, MX, and TXT record types can only be changed manually.

You can check if a network is connected to a zone in the Control panel: from the top menu, click ProductsCloud ServersPrivate DNS → the DNS resolvers tab → in the network row, the DNS zone field.

  1. In the Control panel, from the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.

  2. Go to the Private DNS section.

  3. Open the zone page.

  4. In the Records block, in the row of the required A or AAAA record, click and select Edit record.

  5. Modify the required parameters. You can change:

    • record type;
    • domain name for which the record is valid;
    • list of IP addresses associated with the domain name;
    • Record TTL. TTL is the time during which a resource record in the NS server cache is considered up to date and does not require re-caching.
  6. If you changed the record type in step 5, enter the new value depending on the new type:

    • for CNAME — the target domain name to which the alias should translate. This can be any FQDN-formatted domain name with a trailing dot;
    • for MX — priority and mail server name separated by a space, for example 10 mail.example.com. The lower the number, the higher the priority. The mail server name must be in the same zone as the record domain name. To add another value, click + and enter the details for another mail server. You can add no more than 100 mail servers;
    • for TXT — any text of up to 255 characters. To add another value, click + and enter the text. You can add no more than 100 values.
  7. Click Save.
