Boot a Cloud Server in Rescue and Troubleshooting Mode
Use Rescue mode to recover Linux-based servers. For Windows servers, we recommend recovering from an ISO image.
If your cloud server does not boot or you cannot connect to it, boot it in Rescue and troubleshooting mode. Once booted, you can access the server's file system, troubleshoot it, and restore the operating system.
Rescue mode provides pre-installed utilities for system diagnostics and recovery — see the list of utilities.
- Boot the cloud server into Rescue and troubleshooting mode.
- Connect to the server.
- When server recovery and diagnostics are complete, exit Rescue mode.
1. Boot the server in Rescue
- In the control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.
- Open the Servers tab.
- In the server menu, select Rescue mode.
- Click Boot in Rescue. The server status will change to
RESCUE.
2. Connect to the server
You can connect to a cloud server in Rescue mode:
- via SSH — for Linux-based servers;
- via RDP — for Windows-based servers;
- via the console in the control panel — for servers with any operating system.
For a cloud server to connect via SSH or RDP, it must have internet access:

- In the control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.
- Open the Servers tab.
- In the server menu, select Exit Rescue.
