Restore a cloud server from an ISO image

If system errors occur while working with the cloud server, you can restore the server from the ISO image.

You can recover a server from an ISO image if it is running any OS from its own image or Windows OS from a ready-made image. To recover servers with Linux-based operating systems created from ready-made images, we recommend using Rescue mode booting.

  1. Prepare the ISO image.

  2. Upload the ISO image to the image repository.

  3. Create a cloud server from the ISO image.

  4. Fix the cloud server disk.

  5. Apply the corrected disk.

1. Prepare ISO image

Prepare your own ISO image of the operating system with the necessary drivers. You can also use ready-made ISO images in WinPE for Windows or Rescue for Linux.

2. Upload the ISO image to the image repository

Use the Download and Create Image instructions. The image must be uploaded to Servercore Image Storage, which is located in the same pool as the cloud server.

3. Create a cloud server from an ISO image

Use the Create Cloud Server instructions. Select the image you uploaded to the image store as the source.

4. Patch the cloud server disk

  1. In the Control Panel, go to Cloud PlatformServers.

  2. From the menu of the server where the errors occurred, select Shutdown. The server will switch to the SHUTOFF status.

  3. Go to Cloud PlatformDisks.

  4. From the menu of the disk you want to fix, select Disconnect from Server.

  5. Connect the network drive to the server that you created from the ISO image.

  6. Perform disk recovery work on the cloud server. For example, restore corrupted files.

5. Apply the corrected disk

  1. In the Control Panel, go to Cloud PlatformServers.

  2. From the menu of the server you created from the ISO image, select Shutdown. The server will switch to the SHUTOFF status.

  3. Go to Cloud PlatformDisks.

  4. From the disk's menu, select Disconnect from Server.

  5. Use the corrected network drive:
