Modify the rack for a dedicated server

Any ordered server will be located in a rack in the data center. For more details, see the Pool subsection of the Locations guide.

Ready configuration servers, including Chipcore, are installed in racks in advance. Custom configuration servers are installed in free rack spaces after ordering. When ordering several servers, our algorithm analyzes technical capabilities at the time of ordering and tries to place servers in different racks to improve fault tolerance.

Each rack has three points of failure: an internet port, a local port, and power. In extremely rare cases, rack performance may be compromised. If service downtime of even a few minutes is critical, we recommend placing your servers so that servers of the same project are in different racks. This will minimize the risk of service unavailability in the event of a rack failure.

You can view current server locations and submit a request to move a server to a different rack in the Control panel: in the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated ServersServers → the Rack location **** tab.

Move a server to a different rack

You can move a server between racks only within the same pool.

  1. In the Control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.
  2. In the Servers section, open the Rack location **** tab.
  3. Select the rack from which you need to move the server and click Request server migration.
  4. Select the server(s) to migrate.
  5. In the Comment field, enter additional information, for example, specify racks that the server should not be moved to, or servers that you cannot share a rack with.
  6. Click Request migration. A ticket will be automatically created with the request to move the server.
  7. Wait for a Servercore employee to respond regarding the possibility of moving the server. If a move is possible, the employee will confirm a convenient time for the work and notify you once the server has been moved to another rack.
