KVM console
A KVM console (IPMI) is an interface for server administration and management, regardless of the status of the processor, BIOS, or operating system. It is implemented based on a BMC controller built into the motherboard. It is used for technical maintenance and remote server management when you cannot connect via SSH or RDP.
Learn more about IPMI in the Servercore blog article IPMI — an overview of the technology.
A KVM console is available by default for every dedicated server, except for Chipcore Line servers. For these servers, you can add the extra service Temporary IP-KVM Access for Chipcore Line Servers.
Connect to a server via the KVM console only from the server page in the control panel.
The following operations are available in the KVM console menu:
- full-screen console display mode;
- power on, power off, or restart the server;
- send key combinations;
- reconnect to the console.
Connect to a server via the KVM console
The connection process and the management interface via KVM console may vary slightly for different servers. This depends on the server's motherboard type and the BMC controller built into it.
If you have launched the KVM console for a single server multiple times, text input will only be enabled for the tab you opened first.
- In the control panel, on the top menu, click Products → Dedicated Servers.
- In the server card, click . The KVM console will open in a new browser tab. If necessary, expand the KVM console window.
- If you have an X8DTU motherboard, synchronize the cursor.
- If the KVM console asks for permission to run, confirm it by clicking Run.
- If the KVM console requests authorization, sequentially place the cursor in the Username and Password fields and click username and password in the bottom right corner of the window. The values will be entered into the fields automatically. If you do not see the buttons in the bottom right corner, reconnect to the console.
- If the KVM console control panel appears, select the Remote control section from the left menu. On the remote access page, click Launch H5Viewer.
- Log in to the server. You can view the login (username) and password (password) in the Control Panel: in the top menu, click Products → Dedicated Servers → Servers → server page → tab Operating System → fields Login and Password. The password is available for viewing for 24 hours from the moment the OS installation or configuration change begins. If you are connecting to a server running Windows, ensure that the English keyboard layout is enabled when entering the password on the server.

Synchronize the cursor
For servers with an X8DTU motherboard, you must synchronize the cursor every time you connect.
- Ensure that you have an X8DTU motherboard. If you have a different motherboard, create a ticket.
- In the KVM console window, open the Mouse menu.
