Dedicated server traffic consumption model

Traffic consumption model — a scheme for accounting for all dedicated server traffic (incoming, outgoing) that passes through an Internet port.

Available traffic consumption models depend on the network card port throughput:

  • if the network interface throughput is 1 Gbit/s, only one consumption model is available — 1 Gbit/s with unmetered traffic;
  • if the network interface throughput is greater than 1 Gbit/s, you can choose a consumption model — 1 Gbit/s of unmetered traffic or 300 TB with no bandwidth limits. You can also increase the consumption limit for traffic or bandwidth.

If the average channel load consistently exceeds 100 Mbit/s, we will offer you individual pricing terms. This is necessary to maintain network load balance and ensure high service quality for all clients. Temporary peak speed values are not taken into account.

By default, at the physical level, dedicated servers are connected to Internet switches via copper cross-connects. Such a connection provides speeds of up to 1 Gbit/s. Organizing an optical connection is discussed individually; to do so, create a ticket.

For servers in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Novosibirsk regions, when exceeding the limits defined by the traffic consumption model, speed and traffic are not limited but are additionally billed. This helps avoid downtime for software hosted on the server.

If the defined limits are exceeded, you will receive a notification with the following suggestions:

You can view the costs of additional services in the control panel: in the top menu, click ProductsDedicated Servers → server page → Services.

For more information about overages, view network statistics or generate a traffic consumption report.

Change consumption model

For your information

You can change the consumption model once per calendar month and only for servers in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Novosibirsk regions.

  1. In the control panel, from the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.
  2. Open the server page → Network.
  3. In the Traffic consumption model block, expand the .
  4. Click Change consumption model.
  5. Select a traffic consumption model.
  6. Click Change consumption model.

Increase consumption limit

For your information

You can increase the consumption limit only for servers in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Novosibirsk regions.

You can increase the consumption limit by connecting an additional service Increase traffic/bandwidth consumption limit (3 TB/10 Mbit step). Additional limits are converted into a new model with a corresponding step — every 10 Mbit of speed is 3 TB of traffic and vice versa.

  1. In the control panel, from the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.
  2. Open the server page → Services.
  3. In the Increase traffic/bandwidth consumption limit (3 TB/10 Mbit step) row, click Connect.
  4. Specify the quantity. For example, to change the unmetered traffic consumption model from 1 Gbit/s to 5 Gbit/s, you need to order 400 units of the Increase traffic/bandwidth consumption limit (3 TB/10 Mbit step).
  5. Click Pay.
  6. The service will be bound to the server's billing plan and will be displayed on the server page → Services tab in the Connected services.

Pay for a one-time limit overage

For your information

You can pay for a one-time limit overage only for servers in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Novosibirsk regions.

One-time payment service is not bound to the server's billing plan and applies to rare traffic/bandwidth overages.

  1. In the control panel, from the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.
  2. Open the server page → Services.
  3. In the One-time payment for exceeding traffic/bandwidth consumption limit (3 TB/10 Mbit step) row, click Pay.
  4. Specify the quantity.
  5. Click Pay.

View network statistics

  1. In the control panel, from the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.

  2. Open the server page → Network.

  3. In the Network statistics block, click Show network statistics.

  4. Select a period:

    • day;
    • week;
    • month.
  5. The Internet port chart will display information about traffic passing through the Internet port for the selected period.

Generate a traffic consumption report

  1. In the control panel, from the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.

  2. Open the server page → Network.

  3. In the Traffic consumption model block, in the menu, select the required report:

    • Traffic consumption history — generates a report for the past six months with a monthly breakdown;
    • Download daily usage in CSV — generates a report for the specified period with a daily breakdown.
