Change dedicated server configuration

You can change the configuration after ordering only for a server with a custom configuration. For a server of a pre-built configuration (except for Chipcore Line servers), you can upgrade components: disks, memory, or GPU.

Reinstall the OS manually or via automatic installation at any time.

Change custom server configuration

When changing the configuration, please note the peculiarities of component replacement and the peculiarities of payment when replacing components.

  1. In the Control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated servers.
  2. In the Servers section, open the custom configuration server page → Configuration.
  3. Click Upgrade configuration.
  4. Make changes.
  5. Once you have selected new components, a block with the updated configuration cost will appear.
  6. Click Upgrade configuration.
  7. Click Pay.
  8. After payment, a ticket will be generated with a request to change the server configuration.
  9. Wait for a response from a Servercore representative; they will clarify the details and request confirmation for component replacement.

Peculiarities of component replacement

  • the processor cannot be replaced. Order a new server if you need to replace the processor or change the number of processors;
  • additional disks can be installed without stopping or rebuilding the server if there are free drive bays;
  • additional RAM (random access memory) or PCI-e (if the platform has space for them) can be installed by stopping the server, but this does not require a rebuild;
  • replacing the chassis and increasing the number of disks beyond the chassis capacity requires a server rebuild and payment of an installation fee;
  • if you cannot order U.2 disks, check that the server has an HBA controller for U.2 disks and a chassis with the appropriate drive bays. Some motherboards support direct NVMe connection without an HBA.

Peculiarities of payment when changing the configuration

When changing the server configuration, the following payment scheme is used:

  • when ordering changes, the system calculates the price difference between the current and new configurations for the paid period according to the pricing plan;
  • if the new configuration is more expensive than the current one, the system will freeze funds on the client's balance equal to this difference plus the installation fee;
  • once the server is operational, the system calculates the actual resources used, deducts the corresponding amount from the frozen funds, and unfreezes the remaining funds, returning them to the balance.

Upgrading a prebuilt configuration server

For your information

This functionality is currently in beta. Upgrading servers of pre-built configurations is unavailable in the regions of Novosibirsk, Tashkent, Almaty, and Nairobi.

When upgrading a prebuilt configuration server, please note the peculiarities of server upgrade and the peculiarities of payment when upgrading a server.

Downtime during the upgrade ranges from 30 to 90 minutes. The server will be displayed in the Control Panel with the status No power information.

We recommend copying your data before replacing a disk. When a disk is replaced, Servercore does not perform data migration; the data on the disk is erased and cannot be recovered.

  1. In the Control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated servers.
  2. In the Servers section, open the prebuilt configuration server page → Configuration.
  3. Click Upgrade configuration.
  4. Describe which components need to be replaced or added. All components available for order will be displayed on the right. You can only replace components with ones that have higher specifications.
  5. Click Submit request. A ticket with a server configuration upgrade request will be created automatically.
  6. Wait for a response from a Servercore representative. If the upgrade is approved, the Servercore representative will clarify the details, provide a quote, and request confirmation to begin the component replacement work.

Peculiarities of upgrading a prebuilt configuration server

  • after the upgrade, the option to install the OS via auto-installation will be unavailable; you can manually install the OS using your own image;
  • a server upgrade can be canceled, and the server can be reverted to its original configuration. In this case, another upgrade will be available in two months. After the server is reverted to its original configuration, automatic OS installation will become available.

Peculiarities of payment when upgrading a prebuilt configuration server

When upgrading a configuration, the cost of the new components is added to the current server price. The cost of the replaced components is deducted.
