Connect Direct Connect — physical port
-
Select a telecom operator in a Servercore data center.
-
Coordinate with the operator the possibility of connecting to their equipment within the Servercore infrastructure.
-
Clarify the following with the operator:
- hardware coordinates in the Servercore data center — server room and rack number;
- port operation mode towards the Servercore switch: Access or Trunk;
- unit and port number on the provider equipment to which the cross-connect will be connected;
- who will perform the physical cross-connect on the provider side: a Servercore employee or a provider representative;
- what type of cross-connect the provider provides to the Servercore switch: copper or optical.
If an optical cross-connect will be used, specify:
- fiber type: single-mode or multi-mode;
- connector type, for example LC;
- optical module (transceiver) type on the provider side, for example SFP+ 10G LR;
- transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) wavelengths.
-
In the control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Direct Connect.
-
Click Order service.
-
Select a global router:
- if you have already connected products and services via a global router, select an existing router;
- if you want to create a new global router, select Need new.
-
Enter the telecom provider name.
-
Select the region where the provider rack is located.
-
Select the connection bandwidth — 1, 10, 25, 40, or 100 Gbps. The connection bandwidth determines the type of hardware used for connectivity.
-
If you selected a connection bandwidth of 1 Gbps, select the cross-connect type: copper or optical.
-
If you do not need to reserve the connection, uncheck the MC-LAG Redundant Connection checkbox.
-
Select connectivity products in the Servercore infrastructure.
-
Optional: if you need to configure dynamic routing via BGP on a global router, select the BGP Connection checkbox.
-
Optional: enter any additional information about the connection. For example, the information from the provider you received in step 3.
-
Click Order. A ticket with the service order will be created automatically.
-
Wait for a response from a Servercore employee in the ticket; they will clarify details to proceed with setting up the connection.
-
Once the connection is approved, a port will be allocated on the Servercore switch for connecting the cross-connect from the selected provider. The VLAN with this port will appear in the control panel: in the top menu click Products → Dedicated Servers → Network → the VLAN tab.
-
Configure the connection to the provider channel depending on the service use case:
- configure the connection to the provider channel to connect to the internet from the provider;
- configure the connection to the provider channel to configure connectivity with external infrastructure.
