Unmount file storage from a dedicated or cloud server

The process of unmounting file storage from a server depends on the storage protocol: NFSv4 or CIFS SMBv3.

Unmount storage using the NFSv4 protocol

Linux

1. Connect to the cloud server or dedicated server to which the file storage is mounted.

2. Unmount the file storage:

   umount <path>

   Specify <path> — the path to the folder where the file storage was mounted, for example, /mnt/nfs.

Windows

To work with file storage from Windows, we recommend using file storage with the CIFS protocol. If you need to connect storage with the NFSv4 protocol, install and use a client that supports this protocol, and then mount the file storage. To mount the file storage, refer to the documentation of your chosen client.

File storage only works with the NFS client version NFSv4. By default, Windows OS supports NFS clients versions NFSv2 and NFSv3. For more information about NFS versions, see the NFS overview article in the Microsoft documentation.

If you used a third-party client that supports NFSv4 to mount the storage, refer to the documentation for your chosen client to unmount the file storage.

Unmount storage using the CIFS SMBv3 protocol

Linux

1. Connect to the cloud server or dedicated server to which the file storage is mounted.

2. Unmount the file storage:

   umount <path>

   Specify <path> — the path to the folder where the file storage was mounted, for example, /mnt/cifs.

Windows

1. Connect to the cloud server or dedicated server to which the file storage is mounted.

2. Unmount the file storage:

   net use X: /delete
