Project quotas and limits

Project quotas and limits apply to the following resources:

Project quotas and limits for the cloud platform

Every project has default project limits — restrictions on creating cloud platform resources. Project limits can only be changed via technical support.

Within the project limits, users with certain roles can increase or decrease quotas for resources in the control panel or via API; see the Change quotas section for more details.

Project limits

In projects, a limit is set for each resource — this is the maximum amount of a resource that can be created in one project. Limits are set automatically when a project is created.

Limits for a single resource may differ across various pools and pool segments. By default, limits for a specific resource in a pool or pool segment are identical across all projects in an account.

You can increase the limit of any project via technical support. Different limits can be set for different projects. As you continue to use the product, limits may increase automatically.

Increase project limit

Different limits can be set for different projects.

  1. Create a ticket. The limits will be increased only for one specific project.
  2. Increase quotas.

Quotas

Quotas can be used to limit the creation of cloud resources in a project — to control consumption and limit costs.

When the amount of a resource reaches its quota value, you will no longer be able to create that resource. For example, if you have allocated a quota for ten vCPUs in the ru-7a pool segment, you cannot create more than ten vCPUs until you increase the quota. You can completely restrict the creation of a resource by setting its quota to zero.

When a project is created, default quotas equal to the project limits are allocated for every resource. Quota values for the same resource may differ across various pools and pool segments. You can change the quotas within the project limit.

Unused quotas are not charged — you only pay for the resources you use. For example, if you allocated a quota for ten public IP addresses but only created three, you will only be charged for those three addresses.

Change quotas

The quota value for each resource can be increased or decreased only within the project limit. For a single resource, you can allocate different quota amounts across different pools and pool segments.

You can change all project quotas at the same time: increase to the maximum (project limit) or reduce to the current consumption.

  1. In the control panel, click IAM in the top menu.

  2. Go to the Projects section.

  3. Open the project page → Quotas and limits tab.

  4. Select the location where you need to change the quotas.

  5. In the row of the required quota, in the Quota column, click .

  6. Specify a new quota value. The quota value must be equal to or greater than current consumption; you can view it in the Used column. If you have reached the maximum quota value, increase the project limit.

  7. Click .

  8. Optional: to change all project quotas at the same time:

    • increase up to the project limit — click Increase to maximum;
    • decrease to current consumption — click Decrease to consumption.

View cloud platform quota consumption

You can view the current project consumption, the maximum possible consumption for the current quota settings (how much the project would consume if all quotas were used), and the current usage of each quota for each resource and pool.

  1. In the control panel, click IAM in the top menu.
  2. Go to the Projects section.
  3. Open the project page → tab Quotas and limitsCloud platform.
  4. In the Current project consumption row, you can see how much the project is currently consuming.
  5. To view the maximum possible consumption of the project, click How much will the project consume if I use all the allocated quotas?
  6. In the table, look at the Used column to see the current quota consumption for each resource.

Project limits for S3

By default, S3 has no limits set; you can store any amount of files as long as there are funds available on your balance to pay for storage.

To control the volume of uploaded data and resource consumption, you can set a limit on the total volume of data stored in all project buckets. Limits for a specific bucket can be set separately; learn more in the Bucket limits guide.

If a limit is set:

  • when 90% of the storage space has been used based on the set limit, a warning will appear in the control panel;
  • when the limit is reached, a notification will appear in the control panel, and the storage will return an error when you attempt to upload objects. To continue uploading, free up space or increase the limit.

Set a limit

  1. In the control panel, on the top menu, click IAM.
  2. Go to the Projects section.
  3. Open the project page → Quotas and limitsS3 tab.
  4. Select the region and pool where you need to set the limit.
  5. Click Change limit.
  6. Enable the Maximum size switch.
  7. Enter the limit value in gigabytes.
  8. Click Save.
