Change the configuration of the dedicated server
It is possible to change the configuration after ordering only for a server of arbitrary configuration.For a server of ready configuration (except for Chipcore Line servers) it is possible to make an upgrade of components - disks, memory, GPU.
Reinstall the OS manually or by automatic installation can be reinstalled at any time.
Change the configuration of an custom server configuration
When changing the configuration, please pay attention to the peculiarities of component replacement and the peculiarities of payment for component replacement.
- In the Control Panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.
- In the Servers section, open the custom configuration server page → Configuration tab.
- Click Change Configuration.
- Make the changes.
- Once the new components are selected, a block will appear with the updated configuration cost.
- Click Change Configuration.
- Click Pay.
- After payment, a ticket will be generated with a request to change the server configuration.Wait for a Servercore employee to reply, clarify the details and request confirmation for the replacement of components.
Peculiarities of component replacement
- The processor cannot be replaced.Order a new server if you need to replace a processor or number of processors;
- installation of additional disks is performed without stopping and rebuilding the server if there are free garbage cans;
- installation of additional RAM (RAM) or PCI-e (if their number fits into the current platform) is performed with server shutdown, but does not require rebuilding;
- replacement of the enclosure and increasing the number of disks to more than the enclosure can accommodate, is performed with the rebuild of the server and payment of the installation fee;
- If U.2 disks cannot be ordered, verify that the server has an HBA controller for U.2 disks and an enclosure with suitable baskets.Some motherboards support direct NVMe connectivity without an HBA.
Specifics of payment in case of configuration change
When changing the configuration for a server, the following payment scheme is used:
- during change ordering, the system calculates the difference between the cost of the current and new configuration for the paid period according to the tariff plan;
- If the cost of the new configuration is more than the cost of the current configuration, the system will freeze funds on the client's balance in the amount of this difference and the cost of the installation fee;
- after the server is available for operation, the system calculates how much resources were actually spent and deducts the corresponding amount from the frozen funds, the remaining funds are unfrozen and returned to the balance.
Server upgrade of ready-made configuration
The functionality is in beta testing mode.Upgrade of servers of ready configuration is not available in the regions of Novosibirsk, Tashkent, Almaty, Nairobi.
When upgrading a server of ready-made configuration, please pay attention to the peculiarities of server upgrade and the peculiarities of payment for server upgrade.
Down time on upgrade is 30 to 90 minutes.The server will appear in the control panel with a status of No power information.
We recommend that you copy the data before replacing the disk.When replacing the disk Servercore does not perform a data transfer, the data on the disk is deleted and cannot be recovered.
- In the Control Panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.
- In the Servers section, open the Ready Configuration Server page → Configuration tab.
- Click Make Upgrade.
- Describe which components you want to replace or add.All available components will be displayed on the right.Only components with higher characteristics can be replaced.
- Click Submit Application.
- A ticket will be automatically created with a request for server configuration upgrade.If the upgrade is agreed upon, Servercore employee will specify the details, announce the cost and request confirmation to start the work on replacement of components.
Peculiarities of upgrading a ready-made configuration server
- after the upgrade you will not be able to install the OS by auto-installation, you can manually install the OS from your image;
- The server upgrade can be canceled and returned to the original configuration.A second upgrade in this case will be available after two months.After the server is returned to the original configuration, auto-installation of the OS will be available.
Specifics of payment when upgrading a ready-made configuration server
When upgrading the configuration, the cost of new components is added to the current cost of the server.The cost of components that have been replaced is deducted.
